Fooling around with the chain lock.

When I was a kid I had a simple cable lock covered with ugly yellow PVC-coating. Well, it was a bad protector, my first bicycle was stolen. Surfing the web I simply fell in love with this nylon cover and the idea of keeping the paint of the bicycle’s frame unscratched by 6 kilos of steel!

So I tried to simulate this cover in Max and Marvelous Designer. SplineIK Solver was applied to 24 chain links to make a ring. MassFX has added gravity. Nothing difficult.

The material of the chain itself contains VRayDirt, GradientRamp in the reflection slot and some scratches as a bump map.

I hope it looks like a real one.
